Essential Oil Uses

Important Note:  The following is not meant to take the place of medical advice.  If you have a medical condition, please seek your doctor’s advice as to the use of essential oils.  Pregnant women, babies and children require caution in using essential oils.  Some oils should be avoided totally in their case.  Certain groups of essential oils are generally regarded as safe.  You may ask Body Elements for details on these and the specific properties and actions of the oils for yourself or to show to your health care provider.

—   Diffuse into the air:  This is one of the safest ways to use essential oils in your everyday life.  In fact is is very beneficial for all, including Pregnant/Nursing woman, babies & children of all ages.  Using a cotton ball or tissue, place a few drops on it and place it in any area you will be residing for a bit.  For example, on your nightstand by bed at night.  Or place the tissue in or by a vent/fan so that it will send the vapors into the air.  Use in the car, home, work or anywhere!

—   Room Spray:  Using a spray bottle, put 30 or so drops in and fill with water.  Shake before each use to disperse the droplets thoroughly throughout the water.  Use as a non-chemical room freshener/deodorizer, a Bacteria Buster Spray for bathrooms/kitchens, or as a linen spray before bedtime or just to keep the sheets smelling nice in the closet or drawers.

—   Bath:  Mix 15-30 drops with 1 to 2 cups of Epsom Salts or Dead Sea Salts.  Then pour the salts into the bathtub.

—   Massage:  Use any carrier oil like Sweet Almond, Jojoba, Grapeseed, Sesame, Coconut and even Olive oil from your kitchen!  Pour one ounce of pure vegetable oil (cold pressed is best) in a small cup or bowl (one ounce equals 1/8 cup, 2 tablespoons, or approximately 30 milliliters).  Add 15-30 drops of your favorite essential oil or blend to the vegetable oil and stir together. Some oils that might work well either individually or as part of a blend are listed below.

Oils that are good for a calming or relaxing massage oil include:
cedarwood, Roman chamomile, lavender, Clary sage, jasmine, myrrh, or ylang ylang.

Oils that would create a more invigorating or energizing massage oil
include: cypress, fir, juniper, lemon, nutmeg, orange, grapefruit or peppermint.

Oils that can be used to create a more exotic massage oil include: rose, jasmine, clary sage, rosewood, or ylang ylang.

—   Neat Application:  This is applying directly to the skin.  This is not advised with Essential Oils unless you are experienced or for only a couple oils in general.  The soles of the feet are the best place to apply neat with less chance of skin sensitivity.  One way to apply also is to take a drop or two in the palm of your hand and quickly run it through your hair.  This way, you will have the oils by your nose all day long whenever you move your head.  This becomes your natural perfume and generally will not bother people who are chemically sensitive!

— Ask Body Elements to make you a blend or essential oil roll-on that is stored in the proper way and easy for you to take along with you wherever you go!
